Swallowing Rehabilitation
If you or someone you know finds it hard to swallow, it might be due to a condition called dysphagia. Dysphagia often follows strokes, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), generalized weakness (sarcopenia), or ablation treatments affecting the head and neck. When someone has dysphagia the muscles needed to swallow can get weak, and it becomes tough to coordinate the swallowing process. This can make swallowing slow and difficult. We understand your challenges and are dedicated to improving your ability to swallow with carefully chosen treatment approaches and care.
Voice Treatment
Frustrated by needing to repeat yourself? Tired of feeling isolated from conversations? North Texas Swallowing & Neurological Rehab offers the “gold standard” in voice treatment for people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and other neurological conditions. LSVT LOUD is an extensively researched speech treatment that documents improvements in loudness and variations in pitch while speaking that are maintained for at least two years post-treatment. This intensive, one-on-one treatment improves communication by developing a voice that you can use without strain at a loudness you'll know sounds normal to friends and family.
MBS Study Interpretation
Utilizing the Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile, or MBSImP™, clinicians at North Texas Swallowing & Neurological Rehab can communicate MBS study results in an evidence-based manner that provides more specific, accurate, and objective information to better determine the specific exercise program and/or strategies that can target the affected musculature to improve swallowing abilities.
